ok. so i like english. i like reading and also writing papers (i know, what a nerd right? XP) well, today i am in english class and the teacher (mr. feilds), after collecting the extended definition papers (which the people around me complained about) announces that it is time to split up in to our presentation groups. as soon as hear that, i think "oh please let me get a good group!" i'd settle for one that had at least ONE person to think.
so he starts calling people into groups, and one by one by one, i see all the "smart" people (ones that actually respond to the teacher) disappear. :( and i'm thinking "darn it! i hope there's at least one person left."
but no. my group is - lacking to say the least. i'm soo not happy with it. (well, at least thats what it seemed like this morning). there are three girls and one guy. one of the girls is kinda talkative, but only to other people. the other two...i'm pretty sure i've never heard them talk unless directly addressed to the teacher and in the hallways. at least i know their names now - they're not just some entity that exists on opposite side of the room.
Colleen, Nicholas, Michelle.

so we sit down and just stare at each other while all the other groups are getting to know each other and figure out what they want to do.
me - "so, do you want to exchange numbers? or email?"
others - crickets chirp*
me braining thinking - okkkkkk.
somehow, we succeed in passing around the information (the one guy to my left is almost asleep)
then we go on to what topics we could do.
me - do you guys have any ideas about what you want to research? there's a list of options on the syllabus.
Colleen: girls gets hers out and starts reading - to herself...
me - any ideas?
Colleen- theres blah blah blah and blah.
me - ok. some of them seem kind of cool, but others...meh, not to impressive.
Colleen- we could do texting while driving. that seems interesting.
me - we could. but right now, it seems over rated. its all on the news and its the big thing right now. maybe something else? (thats NOT on the syllabus. come on, lets have some imagination)
Michelle- i'm ok with that one.
Nicholas - head droops*
me - i tap Michelle's desk and type on Cherry (my laptop) "is he sleeping"
Michelle - smiles* yup.

Colleen - so how are we supposed to write this?
Me - well, we could cover different topics that have to do with "Texting while Driving"
Colleen- how will we write it though?
me - we could each pick a section. i made a quick list of things that i thought would work.
everyone copies it. Nicholas is dozing....
we continue in this laborious way until we agree to meet this friday and monday in the library. and we each would do a little research on each section and then just throw it all together.
we are leaving class and Nicholas is behind me and i overhear him tell a friend, "we have an english paper, what? and guess what we're doing? texting while driving. thats so stupid"
my response (in my head of course)- well dearie, if you were actually awake and participating on the discussion, you would have been able to commit your two-cents. but no, you were sleeping, so you forfeited your decision. soooo, suck it up buttercup.
so in conclusion: is this a result of it being a 10am english class oorrr lack of imagination? sadly to say, i think its leaning more towards brain power than sleepiness. :/
